This song is mostly written about a film called 'Pan's Labyrinth.' However I cannot exclusively label this song as about the film as many of the lyrics are more about my own emotions, and the connections with the film are almost more of a novelty than a genuine metaphor.
lyrics
been having words with the kings only daughter
she holds my gaze like nobody else can
she heals my wounds with candle wax
and in return I hold her
oh well, it's fine
she tries so she gets by
oh well it's fine... (she tries so she gets by)
been finding keys for broken locks
darling found a new job
I did my time on the wooden cross
as father smashed his pocket watch
as she bled she smiled at me
the mechanics swept her off her feet
oh well it's fine
she tried and she got by
well well, what do we have here?
the princess died so give a cheer
been having words with the kings only daughter
through a 6 foot fall
oh well, it's fine
if I try I'll get by
oh well it's fine...
